Road Nationals
Nic Hamilton was our lone competitor in the TT. He had a solid ride at his first Nationals, finishing 10th in the Espoir Men's field. The road race blew apart and as it was a combined Pro and Espoir men's field and not all the Espoirs were classified. Nic was pulled on the last lap while sitting in 10th place in Espoir and top 30 overall.
Team Aviawest Junior riders Evan Flatter and Corey Hess were in Quebec as both were selected for Team BC for Nationals and the prestigious Tour D'Abitibi. Their work with Team BC helped to put teammate Cody Campbell into the top 5 in the National Road Race.
Evan was also selected to ride for Team Canada at the Nations Cup event which followed Abitibi. Both he and his teammate suffered major misfortune in the way of crashes in Abitibi, but Evan bounced back at the Nationals Cup and rode a great race in support of his Canadian teammate, who finished 3rd overall.
Some of the younger riders on the team qualified for the Vancouver Island 2008 BC Summer Games team. Craig Logan, Jeremy Christianson and Annie Ewart were all members of the 6-rider Island Team.
Our riders cleaned up at the BC Games with Annie winning 4 of the 5 events and Craig winning 3 and finishing 2nd in another.
